Beautiful Inheritance

Opening Text: Psalm 16: 6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

THE MESSAGE

Here David’s literally could be referring to the division of the land by portion, and the measuring of it off by ropes and lines. The phrase “pleasant places” is a single Hebrew word that means “pleasures.” It’s the very same word as the one in Psalm 16:11 translated “pleasures”: “At your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” So the translation here in Psalm 16:6 should perhaps be: “The lines have fallen for me in pleasures, I have a beautiful inheritance.” Hallelujah!
But the message God wants us to get from the above passage is that our prevailing destiny have fixed the boundaries of the places where we are whether the place is rich or poor. It means that our case is mapped out to always be different from others.
When David says a goodly heritage, he was referring to the fact that the favour of God makes our portion good. So, it is not about where we are today or what is happening around us. It is rather the fact that we have an established favour that comes through the covenant of grace. This grace was purchased for us by the blood of Jesus.

Our case will always be different because of God’s love for us. The sense of our Father’s love is like honey at the end of every rod. It turns stones into bread for us. Glory!

Our Papa God’s love turns our water into wine, and the valley of trouble into a door of hope. Papa God makes the biggest evils seem as if they were none; and makes our deserts like the garden of the Lord. In effect, when men are cast down we will boldly say we are lifted up.

Do not listen to those who think that Christianity is a life of suffering. It is because they do not understand who a Christian is. We are diagrammed by God’s favour.
Papa God’s sovereign goodness has fenced us in to God himself. Wow! I cannot stop rejoicing about this. The borders of our life are boundaries around where God is. We have a case of prima facie here because if our boundaries are around where God is it means that God is our inheritance and that He is beautiful.
God is the sovereign who holds our allocation. And he uses that power to make himself our beautiful inheritance. We are fenced in to the pleasures of knowing God.
